The CJJU was created by O'Sensei Georges Sylvain, 10th degree Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt and the Founder of the Can-Ryu Jiu-Jitsu System.  Mr. Sylvain retired after 50 years of teaching Jiu-Jitsu.

He turned over the complete responsibilities of the CJJU's objectives, management and administration to Ed Hiscoe, Hanshi.  He continues to oversee the CJJU operations from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

He is  assisted by his son Steven Hiscoe, Soke, Vice-President of the CJJU.  Soke has taken over the daily operations of the CJJU.
